PROSPECTS Foundation is a registered charity set up in order to support the existing PROSPECTS Panels.

The Foundation became a source of advice and guidance for the Panels, assisting with funding, practical assistance, training and publicity. The PROSPECTS Panels have developed a wide range of environmental and community projects in our area.

Offshoots Permaculture Project is a 1 acre community garden project and is based in the old walled kitchen garden of Towneley Park, Burnley, Lancashire. The Project was set up in 1997 and as a result of a lot of hard work from staff and dedicated volunteers over the years, Offshoots is now a thriving community garden and training centre which has recently been accredited as a bee farm!

On site there are eco-friendly buildings that are powered by renewable energy, organic vegetable production, beekeeping, forest garden, a wildlife pond and reed bed, charcoal kiln and a backyard garden demonstration area.

Permaculture is a design system for sustainable and self-sufficient lifestyles. The word ‘permaculture’ comes from ‘permanent agriculture’ and ‘permanent culture’ – it is about living lightly on the planet and making sure that we can sustain human activities for many generations to come, in harmony with nature.

If you're working for a school or non-profit organisation in Lancashire or across the North-West of England, we'd be happy to discuss running educational workshops with you. Please contact us with your requirements.
